-- Raeisi: World must hold US to account for supporting Daesh, new terrorism
Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said the world must hold the United States to account for supporting terrorism fomented by Daesh group and other new forms of this ominous phenomenon.
Raeisi made the remarks in a Sunday phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, during which he welcomed expansion of Tehran-Paris relations in all areas, particularly economy and trade.
Elaborating on the efforts made by countries in the region and elsewhere in the world to fight terrorism, especially by Daesh, Raeisi said Daesh has been created and is still being supported by the United States.
-- Monthly cargo transit through Iran up 94%: IRICA
Some 974,000 tons of goods were transported through Iran in the previous Iranian calendar month (which started July 23), indicating a 94% growth compared to the corresponding period last year, said the spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
Rouhollah Latifi added, “Some 8,452,000 tons of non-oil cargo, worth nearly $5.4 billion, were traded between Iran and other countries in the 31-day period, with exports accounting for some $3.3 billion of that figure.
However, the official added that Iranian exports saw a 14% decline in weight – 9% decline in value – compared to the preceding month.
-- Historical heritage of Kharanaq Village in Yazd Province, highly attractive for tourists
Kharanaq is a historical village located in the mountainous areas of Ardakan, the central province of Yazd.
An old castle, over an area of more than one hectare, is the most important historical site of the village. One of the largest in Iran, the castle was built in ancient times by local people in order to be safe from the attack of thieves and bandits.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Daily, Mohammad Abulqasemi, a member of Kharanaq Village’s Islamic Council, said the castle and the village are estimated to date back 2,500 to 4,000 years.
He added that a hosseinieh (a place where Shi’a Muslims gather to observe religious ceremonies), a Jaame mosque and two water mills are among the most important sections of the castle.

-- Ministry: 30 Millions Shots Injected
The Iranian Health Ministry said Monday nearly 30 million shots of COVID-19 vaccines have been injected across the country. New figures released by the ministry indicate that more than 29,453,400 doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country as of Monday, where nearly 20 million people have received the first dose of the vaccine. More than 29.56 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have also been carried out in Iran so far, out of which 5,156,900 people have been detected with the virus.
-- Deeply Worrying News From Panjshir
Iran on Monday “strongly” condemned the Taliban’s military offensive against holdout fighters in Afghanistan’s Panjshir Valley, as the hardline group claimed that it had taken control of the area.
“The news coming from Panjshir is truly worrying,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh told reporters. “The assault is strongly condemned.”
The Taliban on Monday claimed victory in the mountainous Panjshir area, with a spokesman declaring “our country is completely taken out of the quagmire of war,” three weeks after the militants captured the capital.
But the National Resistance Front (NRF) — made up of anti-Taliban militia and former Afghan security forces — said that its fighters were still present in “strategic positions” across the valley, and that they were continuing the struggle.

Iranian chess players ranked second in the Asian Women’s Online Chess Championship 2021.
Iranian chess players Safoora Ghane and Tannaz Azali received two silver and bronze medals and the Iranian team stood on the second place.
The event was held with 41 students from 12 countries.
India with 25.5 points ranked first, Iran with 25 points stood on the second place, and Malaysia with 21 points ranked third.
Iranian team had earlier ranked first in the first round of competitions.

-- Iranian photographers honored at Tajikistan Aqua exhibit
Several Iranian won awards in various categories of the 3rd Aqua International Salon of Photography in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Water is the central theme of the exhibition, which is organized annually by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) and the Focus Photo Club, Iran’s branch of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
Mehdi Kazemi Bumeh won the FPC Trophy in the open color section for “Gear”, an abstract photo depicting a man who is running a number of gears.
-- Iran’s crude steel output rises about 10% in 7 months yr/yr: WSA
Production of crude steel in Iran reached 17.8 million tons during January-July, 2021 to register a 9.9 percent growth year on year, according to the latest report released by the World Steel Association (WSA).
The WSA’s report put the crude steel output by the world’s top 64 producers at 1.165 billion tons in the mentioned time span, registering an increase of 12.4 percent.
Iran’s monthly crude steel output stood at 2.6 million tons in July 2021, rising nine percent compared to the figure for July 2020. The Islamic Republic maintained its place as the world’s 10th biggest steel producer during the mentioned time span, the report said.
--Vast troglodyte complex in central Iran may gain UNESCO status: official
Tarkhoran troglodytic complex, which is situated near Tafresh in Markazi province, is capable of being registered in the UNESCO World Heritage list, the provincial tourism chief has said.
“This pristine [troglodytic] collection is untouched and vast yet it enjoys special architecture. And such special conditions make it capable of a possible UNESCO registration,” ISNA quoted Mostafa Marzban as saying on Monday.
For the first step, a dossier on the troglodyte complex is being developed to be submitted to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts for national registration, the official noted.
Tarkhoran troglodytic architecture is said to be a sample of local subterranean construction which is situated in the modern neighborhood of the same name.
